Let Them Eat Ice Cream

5 Apr

My last name is Sugar, and I am addicted to sugar.

That’s right.

I. Love. Sweets.

All things sweet, ice cream and cupcakes especially, but I do not discriminate against cookies, Popsicles, brownies and the like.

Armed with a new found sense of free time (I recently completed my Master’s in Public Health) and an “old found” love of cooking all things sweet, I decided I should put my fingers to work blogging about this experience. I read food blogs daily, perusing them for delicious ice cream recipes but have yet to find a blog dedicated entirely to ice cream and other frozen treats. (Some review ice creams and cakes, but few post their own recipes).

I took matters into my own hands and bought a Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker (this one),  began researching recipes, and am on a quest to post recipes daily (I hope!) for the next year. This will help me perfect the craft of making ice creams and other frozen gourmet treats. Read along, comment and try these on your own!

Dear Sweet Mrs. Sugar! You have inspired me to pull out my dusty old ice cream maker (circa 1980’s) and get scooping! When I was a kid, we use to mix snow from our backyard (BGW-before global warming) with maple syrup and call it icecream! When I taught cooking @ C Hillel Academy, my young Chefs made icecream using rock salt and zip lock bags. Looking forward to your creations! and curious what you will suggest for Passover!?! ;) (hint: Savta Ruth made fabulous sorbets and gelatos sans icecream maker!)…have fun! Debra O. PS I like anything with pralines & pecans (my NOLA affection), mangoes&ginger (tropical) or cumin (MiddleEastern)…with chocolate flakes, chips or…

I’m truly enjoying the design and layout of your blog. It’s a very easy on the eyes
which makes it much more enjoyable for me to come here and visit more often.
Did you hire out a developer to create your theme? Fantastic work!

Hello would you mind stating which blog platform you’re using? I’m going to start my own blog in the near future but
I’m having a tough time selecting between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique.
P.S Sorry for getting off-topic but I had to ask!

I use wordpress – and I upgraded the format to be able to customize. By far the easiest one to use!
